'Power imbalance' halted RPP unification: Rana

KATHMANDU: Rastriya Prajatantra Party Chairman Pashupati Shamsher Rana has said that the unification with RPP-Nepal could not take place owing to failure to agree on the balance of power.

Speaking at an interaction organised by the Sambad Club Nepal here today, leader Rana said the unification bid was dropped after the RPP-Nepal, led by Kamal Thapa, did not agree to balance of the functions, duties and rights of the national chairperson and executive chairperson of the new party.

"The unification process with RPP Nepal has not ended, but just postponed", he maintained.

Earlier, Rana had announced that the unification between the two parties, scheduled for the next day, would not be held immediately.

On Tuesday, the RPP-Nepal's Thapa had announced that the unification bid failed. He had blamed Rana for the failure.

On a different note, he also said that the Supplies Minister Deepak Bohara, who represents the party in the government, has been directed to ease supplies of essential goods in the market.
