Prakash threatens another ‘revolution’

Kathmandu, February 25:

Secretariat member of Unified CPN-Maoist Narayan Kaji Shrestha ‘Prakash’ today said his party would go for a decisive revolution if it were prevented from drafting a pro-people constitution.

“The Maoist-led government has begun appreciable works but several elements have been challenging the government and hampering it from implementing pro-people decisions,” Shrestha said. He was addressing a ceremony to declare the unification of Young Communist League and Akhil Nepal Janabadi Yuba Sangh at Khulamanch today.

“We would never compromise on issues of nationality and we will liberate Nepal from all kinds of colonial mind-set,” he said. “If the parties failed to abide by the previous agreements they would be washed away like the former king,” he claimed. He accused some major parties of speaking against the integration of the Maoist army into the Nepal Army.

He also claimed that the present government was not the one in the past and toppling of this government was possible only in dreams. “It’s still not too late. All parties can go hand in hand to take the peace process to a logical conclusion and draft a pro-people constitution.”

He also appealed the YCL to support the policies and programmes of the government. Minister for Information and Communications Krishna Bahadur Mahara directed the YCL to monitor, interfere and control the streets if needed. Convener of the YCL Ganeshman Pun said his organisation would take action against those who failed to pay the taxes.
