KATHMANDU: The Election Commission of Nepal can conduct local elections in May-June but for that the poll dates should be announced by February 19, one of its commissioners said on Tuesday.

Preparations are afoot to hold the elections in two phases, according to Election Commissioner Ila Sharma. She was speaking at an interaction on local level restructuring and local elections here in the Capital today.

She pointed out the need for human resources in from the centre to the village levels, Rastriya Samachar Samiti reported.
