KATHMANDU, MARCH 16

President Bidya Devi Bhandari has called an all-party meeting at her official residence in Shital Niwas at 4:00 pm on Tuesday.

As per the office of the President, the discussions at the meeting will revolve around contemporary issues.

Four parties represented in the Federal Parliament -- CPN-UML, CPM (Maoist Centre), Nepali Congress and Janata Samajbadi Party -- and three other parties who have independent lawmakers -- Rashtriya Prajatantra Party, Rashtriya Janamorcha and Nepal Majdoor Lisa Party -- will attend the meeting.

President Bhandari's Personal Secretary Bhesh Raj Adhikari further informed that former Prime Ministers too will join the discussions.

The meeting has been called by the President at a time when the top parties in the parliament are making a run for either sustaining the current government or formation of a new government by replacing Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.

The political stalemate invited by PM Oli's December 20 move to dissolve the House has further intensified with the Apex Court's recent ruling nullifying unification of the communist parties in 2018.
