Prez flying off to UAE on official visit tomorrow

Kathmandu, November 11

President Bidhya Devi Bhandari is paying an official visit to the United Arab Emirates from November 13 to 16 at the invitation of Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the crown prince of Abu Dhabi and deputy supreme commander of the UAE Armed Forces.

President Bhandari and the UAE crown prince will hold official meeting in Abu Dhabi on November 14. Matters of mutual interests and bilateral cooperation will be discussed in the meetings, according to a foreign ministry statement.

During the visit, the president is also scheduled to visit the Emirate of Dubai.

The president will also meet the Nepali community at a programme to be organised by Charge d’Affaires of the Embassy of Nepal in Abu Dhabi.

The UAE visit of President Bhandari is taking place at a time when Nepal and the UAE are marking the 40th year of establishment of their diplomatic relations. She will be accompanied by her daughter Nisha Kusum Bhandari.

Other members of the entourage include Minister for Supplies Jayant Chand, the president’s Foreign Affairs Expert Madan Kumar Bhattarai, Foreign Secretary Shanker Das Bairagi, Secretary of the Office of the President Bhupendra Prasad Paudel and other senior officials of the Office of the President and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as well as representatives of the media.

President Bhandari will return to Kathmandu on November 16.
