President, PM observe Rakshya Bandhan
KATHMANDU: President Bidya Devi Bhandari has received the 'Raksha Bandhan doro' (sacred thread tied around the wrist) at the Shital Niwas, on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan or Janai Purnima, one of the Hindu festivals.
According to Rajyogi Ram Singh Ayer of the Brahmakumaris Rajyoga Centre, President Bhandari received the doro this morning from the Centre at the President’s Office in Maharajgunj this morning.
Similarly, Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba received the sacred thread from the Centre at his official residence in Baluwatar.
The director of the Sewa Kendra Rajyogini Rajdidi, Rajyogi Ayer, Rajyogi Tilak Bahadur Shahi and Rajyogini Amarjit Kaur presented the doro to the President and PM.
This year Rakshya Bandhan or Janai Purnima coincides with Naag Panchami on Friday.
The Panchanga Committee has advised all Hindu devotees to observe Rakshya Bandhan on Naag Panchami.
