President’s rule a possibility: Dahal
KATHMANDU: UCPN-Maoist chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' today said there could be a presidential rule in the country after their people's movement gains momentum.
"Either we will topple this puppet government and form a national unity government in our leadership or the government will suppress our movement imposing the president's rule," a regional bureau member quoted chairman Dahal as telling Tamsaling and Newa State Committees during a political training at the premises of Khanna Garment today.
Prachanda said the government's choice of quelling the uprising would lead to serious consequences for the nation. He asked the training attendants to be ready for any kind of movement. Prachanda is said to have ruled out the possibility of his leading the next government.
Hundreds of cadres and leaders of both the state committees were present during the training attended by vice-chairmen Mohan Baidya, Dr Baburam Bhattarai and Narayan Kaji Shrestha and general secretary Ram Bahadur Thapa. Politburo member Pampha Bhusal delivered a welcome speech at the gathering.
UCPN-M has decided to organise political training for all the state committees in order to prepare for the already announced people's movement.
