Prez observes Krishna Asthami
KATHMANDU: President Dr. Rambaran Yadav along with Home Minister Bhim Rawal and other ministers observed the birthday of Lord Krishna, Krishna Janamasthami, by visiting the Krishan Mandhir in Patan.
The Krishna Asthami is being celebrated throughout the country by performing special rituals, fasting, chanting sermons of Lord Krishna and offering dairy products like milk, butter, yoghurt and rice pudding to Lord Krishna-- the favourites of Lord Krishna. He is said to be born on today’s date of the lunar calendar at mid night in the Dwapar Yug. It is believed that he will take birth to protect the world from the sinners. Lord Krisha is admired for mischievous acts of his childhood, romantic façade of his youth, karma and diplomacy of his adulthood and seclusion and meditation of his old age.
In the valley, people have been visiting the Krishna Mandir of Patan and Pashupatinath South gate, the Krishna Pranami, HareRam Hare Krishna (ISCON) of Budanilkantha from early Thursday morning.
