President Ram Chandra Poudel administered the oath of office and secrecy to Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli today.
The newly appointed Prime Minister Oli was sworn in during a special ceremony held this morning at the President's residence, Sheetal Niwas.
The ceremony was attended by Vice President Ramsahay Prasad Yadav, Chief Justice Bishwambhar Prasad Shrestha, Speaker Devraj Ghimire, Chairperson of the National Assembly Narayan Prasad Dahal, outgoing Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda,' former Prime Ministers Sher Bahadur Deuba, Jhalanath Khanal, and Dr. Baburam Bhattarai, as well as leaders from various political parties, members of parliament, senior officials of the Nepal government, heads of security agencies, chiefs and representatives of foreign diplomatic missions in Nepal, and distinguished personalities from various fields of social life.
President Poudel appointed Oli as Prime Minister on Sunday as per Article 76 (2) of the Constitution of Nepal. Oli had the support of the Nepali Congress and the Communist Party of Nepal (UML) for his claim to the prime ministership.
Outgoing Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' lost the vote of confidence motion in Parliament on Friday after CPN-UML came into agreement with the Nepali Congress to form a new national consensus government and withdrew from the coalition government with the CPN-MC.
