PM directs chiefs of security agencies for election security

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has directed all four security agencies to do the needful for effective security management for the local level elections slated for May 14.

Prime Minister Dahal had summoned the chiefs of Nepal Army, Armed Police Force, Nepal Police and National Investigation Department at Baluwatar this morning to discuss security arrangements for the local level elections.

In response to his inquiry, the top security officials told the country's executive head that security condition was normal, ensuring him of maintaining security to hold elections in free, fair and fearless environment.

Nepal Army's Chief of the Army Staff Rajendra Chhetri, Armed Police Force's Inspector General Singha Bahadur Shrestha, Nepal Police's Inspector General Prakash Aryal and National Investigation Department's chief Dilip Regmi briefed the Prime Minister that preparations for poll security have already been completed, according a statement issued by the PM's Secretariat.
