PM picks five PAF board members
Kathmandu, May 30
Five persons have been nominated as board members of Poverty Alleviation Fund.
Those nominated are Narayan Koirala, Bijaya Naryan Shrestha, Sadhana Ghimire Bhetuwal, Mahadev Badu and Bishwa Shanti Bista.
A meeting chaired by Prime Minister and PAF Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal nominated the members.
The meeting decided to conduct province-level seminars on the theme ‘Poverty
Alleviation, Business Promotion and Prosperity’ with participation of people’s representatives.
Similarly, the meeting formed a task force to formulate next strategy paper of PAF. Joint Secretary at the PM’s Office is the coordinator of the task force.
An under-secretary each from National Planning Commission, Ministry of Local Development and Ministry of Finance are members while a representative from Poverty Alleviation Fund is member-secretary of the taskforce. The taskforce has been given a month to prepare its strategy.
The PAF meeting has also decided to request, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to the Government of the People’s Republic of China and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank to implement poverty alleviation programmes in the districts in the mountainous region close to the Nepal-Tibet border.
At the meeting, PM Dahal directed PAF officials to work more efficiently and carry out programmes to uplift the living standard of target groups.
