PM to attend energy summit in UAE
Kathmandu, January 12
Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal is set to embark on a four-day visit to United Arab Emirates on Saturday. He will attend the World Future Energy Summit 2017 in Abu Dhabi on January 16.
He will also visit Dubai, the most populous city of the UAE, and meet his counterpart Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, according to the Prime Minister’s Press Adviser Govinda Acharya. He will also interact with Nepali migrant workers and representatives of various Nepali associations based in Dubai.
The prime minister is scheduled to return home on January 17.
Meanwhile, PM Dahal called on President Bidhya Devi Bhandari this evening and informed her about his proposed visit to UAE.
The summit is expected to set agenda for global discussion on future of renewable energy, clean technology and sustainability.
In his address, PM Dahal would seek foreign investment in Nepal’s hydropower sector as well as other sources of renewable energy.
PM Dahal will be accompanied by his personal assistant and son Prakash Dahal, aides and security personnel. Foreign Secretary Shankar Das Bairagi, who is currently in Doha, Qatar, would join him in Dubai.
Meanwhile, a separate four-member delegation led by Energy Minister Janardhan Sharma would also fly to Abu Dhabi along with PM Dahal, according to a foreign ministry official.
