PM’s Office to consult conflict victims
KATHMANDU: The Prime Minister’s Office will start consulting the conflict victims on issues of transitional justice on Thursday.
A source told THT that the government secretaries dealing with transitional justice issues would hold discussion with the representatives of conflict victims’ organisations on Thursday at the PMO on the consultation modality and the timing of consultations. “This means the government’s consultation with the victims will begin on Thursday,” the source added.
The government’s move comes in the backdrop of rights activists and conflict victims criticising the government for not restructuring the two transitional mechanisms — Truth and Reconciliation Commission and the Commission of Enquiry on the Enforced Disappeared Persons and not consulting the conflict victims on the transitional justice related legal issues.
The tenure of two transitional mechanism is expiring in a few weeks.
