Kathmandu, August 27:

Princess Prerana gave away the ‘National and International Citizen’s Golden Honours’ to various persons at a programme organised today by the Citizens’ Forum to mark the 78th birthday of the Queen Mother and the 41st Children’s Day. The Princess gave away the Lifetime Achievement Awards of 2062 BS to National Poet Madhav Ghimire and noted singer Taradevi. The World Hindu Federation International Committee was given the Special Religious Institution Honour.

Various other persons were given the ‘Citizen’s Honour’ for their contribution to various fields. Those awarded are former chairman of the Rajparishad Standing Committee Dr Keshar Jung Rayamajhi, Rajparishad member Sachit Shumsher JB Rana, senior surgeon Dr Upendra Devkota, industrialist Sinon Dorje Lama, civil servant Purushottam Ojha, mediaperson Biswo Prakash Maskey, AIGP Rajendra Bahadur Singh, singers Meera Rana, Shambhu Rai and Yam Baral, educationists Chhewang Lima Lama, Deepak Harsha Bajracharya, and Dr Babu Ram Pokhrel, musician Raju Singh, Deuda singer Nanda Krishna Joshi, entrepreneur Purna Prasad Gurung, Dil Prasad Pokhrel and Krishna Hari Adhikari, actor Bipana Thapa, and tourism entrepreneur Sumitra Shrestha. Cultural programme for peace-unity were also staged.
