Public, Private vehicle movements barred

KATHMANDU, APRIL 26

The District Administration Offices of Kathmandu, Bhaktapur and Lalitpur have issued prohibitory orders for the valley effective from April 29.

A meeting of chiefs of the three districts, that had begun earlier in the day today and had lasted for hours, decided to enforce prohibitory orders keeping in mind the sharp spike in daily reported cases of Covid-19 in all the three districts of the valley.

Earlier on Sunday, the Covid-19 Crisis Management Centre had recommended the Council of Ministers to authorise District Covid-19 Crisis Management Centres to take a call on restrictive measures to address the situation.

As per the CDOs' decision, vehicles other than emergency service vehicles, will not be allowed to ply the roads beginning Thursday while essential supply stores will have a set window of time for operation, a DAO source revealed.

Respective administration offices of the three districts will issue a statement containing the details of the new regulations upon consultation with higher authorities later in the day, it has been learnt.

Kathmandu valley on Sunday had reported close to 1,500 infections, almost a half of the total number of daily cases logged throughout the country.

What will happen to domestic flights?
