KATHMANDU, JULY 4

The district administration authorities of Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur are likely to prolong the ongoing prohibitory orders for another week.

The current prohibitory period is scheduled to end today midnight.

The authorities of the three districts have been gradually relaxing the lockdown while continuing to extend the Covid-19 prohibitory period in the valley, which is among the places with most active cases in the country.

Chief District Officers of the three districts are scheduled to meet today to discuss the modality for the next phase of lockdown.

The meeting will reportedly discuss resumption of microbus and tempo operations as the administrators had only allowed public vehicles with the capacity of more than 25 seats to operate in an odd-even system from 6:00 am till 7:00 pm inside the valley, during the last extension.

Furthermore, grocery stores were allowed to run throughout the day while other shops were permitted to operate from 11:00 am till 6:00 pm.

The new extension is likely to continue with further relaxations.
