PSC starts rechecking examinees’ answer sheets

Kathmandu, December 22

Public Service Commission has started double checking answer sheets of examinees to ensure that the papers were checked correctly.

“Since it was hard to believe that an examiner checked all the answer sheets correctly, the PSC has started double checking them,” Chairman of PSC Umesh Mainali said while addressing a meeting of the State Affairs Committee in Singha Durbar today.

He said the system of double-checking would be introduced in public service examinations for all services, groups and levels.

Mainali also said that the Civil Service Act needs to be amended to discourage civil servants from taking long study leaves.

He said the PSC was also preparing to change the format of PSC examinations to test leadership skills of examinees. He said the new format would be introduced for examinations held for joint-secretaries.

Mainali accused the Ministry of General Administration of not informing the PSC about the vacant positions, despite a clear provision of the Civil Service Act.

The parliamentary committee has directed the PSC to implement the provision of the Act strictly.
