KATHMANDU, AUGUST 2

The government has announced a public holiday in the three districts of Kathmandu Valley on Sunday, August 4, in observance of the Rato Matsyendranath Jatra, the day on which the legendary bhoto (vest) of the Rato Matsyendranath deity is exhibited for public viewing.

A notice issued today by Narayan Prasad Bhattarai, Spokesperson for the Home Ministry, stated that the public holiday has been declared in Kathmandu, Lalitpur, and Bhaktapur districts on this occasion.

The government grants a public holiday in Kathmandu Valley every year for Bhotojatra.
