KATHMANDU, APRIL 23
The Emir of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, has landed in Kathmandu, this afternoon. Qatari Emir is on a two-day state visit to Nepal at the invitation of President Ram Chandra Paudel.
The private plane carrying the Qatari Emir landed at the Tribhuvan International Airport, kathmandu at 3:35pm. He arrived in Nepal via Dhaka, Bangladesh.
President Ramchandra Paudel along with other officials welcomed the Qatari Emir a the airport. During the occassion, the Nepali Army offered a traditional 21-gun salute to the Qatari Emir. Notably, the Nepali Army will assume the lead role of overseeing security measures throughout the Emir's state visit, encompassing the Tribhuvan International Airport, Hotel, and the designated travel routes.
Scheduled to be accommodated at Hotel Soaltee, the Qatari Emir is slated to engage in high-level meetings during his stay including discussions with President Paudel this evening at the Shital Niwas and a subsequent meeting with Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' on Wednesday.
The Emir and his delegation are slated to depart at 2:00 PM on Wednesday.
The government has declared a public holiday today for the state visit of the Qatar Emir.
