Rally organised in Capital to observe National Yoga Day

KATHMANDU: Ministry of Education has organised a rally here today under the slogan - Let's do yoga, be healthy - on the occasion of National Yoga Day-2074.

The rally that began from Shantibatika concluded at the same place after passing through Ratna Park, Bhrikutimandap, Bhadrakali, Sundhara, Khichapokhari, Indra Chowk and Bhotahiti.

The main purpose of the rally was to create awareness about the benefits of yoga to the physical and psychological health of people and to have it recognised as a way of healthy living.

Various individuals and institutions including Bramha Kumari Rajyog Centre, Patanjali Yog Samiti Nepal, yoga practitioners, students, and police personnel had participated in the rally.

Inaugurating the programme, Education Secretary Madhu Prasad Regmi said that every person should practice yoga as a part of their lifestyle to be healthy and happy, stressing the need of creating public awareness regarding the practice.

Similarly, Joint-Secretary at the Ministry, Dr Hari Lamsal said that the government has been observing Magh 1 as National Yoga Day comprehending the importance of yoga.
