Rampant violation of traffic rules
KATHMANDU: As a part of the special traffic campaign launched by Metropolitan Traffic Police Division (MTPD), a joint team of traffic police seized 959 driving licenses, 571 blue books and 230 route permits from the vehicles flouting traffic regulations on
Saturday. The campaign was launched since April 20.
According to a release issued by the MTPD, as many as 15 vehicles were found in the “no parking zone” on the very day, while street vendors openly encroached on the roads.
Over-crowded buses were fined in five places. Likewise 15 public vehicles were penalised for picking and dropping people at the wrong places.
Taxi metres are also being monitored. “Taxi drivers found tampering with meters would be fined heavily,” stated the release.
The campaign is expected to minimise violation of traffic rules and road accidents.
