Recommended for promotion
KATHMANDU: The Secretariat of the Promotion Committee led by Secretary at the Ministry of Home Affairs has published a list of police officials recommended for promotion. A public notice issued by AIGP Ramesh Shekhar Bajracharya, member secretary at the Promotion Committee, said names of three DSPs and 15 Inspectors have been recommended for their promotion to the post of SP and DSP respectively.
Two thefts in two days
KATHMANDU: Police reported two cases of theft in Kathmandu on Thursday and Friday. Property worth Rs 370,000 including Rs 82,000 cash, three tola gold ornaments, a laptop computer and a mobile phone set were stolen from the house of Chandra Mani Pandey in Thamel. The incident took place on Thursday night when the burgled room on the second floor was left open. In another incident an unidentified gang of thieves barged into the Banasthali-based rented room of Sagar Kandel of Biduwa, Baglung, The gang stole two iPhone sets, a Samsung Galaxy phone set, a laptop and Rs 1,400, collectively worth Rs 176,000 on Friday, police said.
Man held with drugs
KATHMANDU: Police on Thursday arrested a man in possession of controlled pharmaceutical drugs from Basundhara. The suspect has been identified as Bijay Lama, 23, of Nagarjun Municipality. Police said they have confiscated 11 pieces of diazepam, 10 pieces of buprenorphine and seven pieces of phenergan from his possession. Official said that they are looking into the case.
Three bodies found
KATHMANDU: Three persons were found dead in different places of the Kathmandu Valley on Friday. Police said Ashok Khadka, 22 of Mali-1, Dolakha, who used to work as a mechanic at the Mhepi-based Sagar Automobile, was found dead with multiple injuries. Similarly, Harka Bahadur Fulal, 52, of Udayapur, currently residing at Chandragiri Municipality, was found dead in the passage of his house. In another incident, Sahajyadi Khatun, 24, of Manahara-5, Siraha, was found dead on the bank of the Hanumante Khola in Anantalingeshwor Municipality-5, Bhaktapur on Friday. Khatun was an employee with Pathivara Bag Factory in the municipality. It is learnt that the Metropolitan Police Circle, Balkot, had recently settled a dispute between Khatun and her husband Jabir Ansari, 19. Police have arrested Ansari.
