Red Cross Society of China provides Rs 130 million support to NRCS

KATHMANDU: Red Cross Society of China has decided to provide financial and technical assistance to Nepal Red Cross Society (NRCS) for construction of a warehouse.

The central warehouse is being built in Bhaktapur to be used at times of disasters.

NRCS General Secretary Dev Ratna Dhakhwa and Vice-Chairperson of the Red Cross Society of China, Wang Hiking, signed on the assistance-agreement paper on Thursday.

A high-level delegation of the RCSC led by Vice-Chairperson Wang is on a three-day visit to Nepal. As per the agreement, the RCSC will provide financial assistance of Rs 130 million and technical support to NRCS.

The construction of the warehouse is expected to complete within the next two years, Chief of Humanitarian and Communications Department at NRCS, Divya Raj Poudel informed.

RCSC Vice-Chairperson Wang said that apart from the construction of the warehouse, the RCSC would support Nepal Red Cross Society in other areas as well.

The high-level RCSC delegation also inspected the warehouse construction site at Bhaktapur on Thursday.
