Redesign flag, change national animal: MNO

Kathmandu, June 21:

Mongol National Organisation today urged the government to redesign the national flag and change the national animal, saying that they symbolise a deep-rooted imperialism.

Gopal Gurung, president of the organisation, suggested replacing the national animal, cow, with musk deer.

He also called for redesigning of the national flag. When asked why the national flag needed a new design, Gurung, however, could not justify his opinion.

Gurung also called for a switch to Nepal Sambat by dropping the existing Bikram Sambat. He warned that his party would take up arms if the government did not address its demands.

MNO also demanded that all the statues of ex-kings and queens be put in museum.
