Relatives of patient protest outside Bhaktapur hospital

KATHMANDU: Relatives of a patient, who passed away during the course of treatment at a Bhaktapur-based hospital, are putting up a protest outside hospital premises, citing misbehaviour on the part of a doctor.

The deceased has been identified as Junu Devi Shrestha (48) of Sarlahi district, currently residing in Thimi of Bhaktapur.

Junu Devi, who was suffering from Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), had been admitted to Nagarik Community Teaching Hospital four days ago.

According to Krishna Shrestha, son of the deceased, the doctor under whose charge his mother was admitted had displayed rudeness in his behaviour with the patient and her kin. However, the hospital management has downplayed the allegation.

The patient's relatives are currently waiting outside the hospital premises holding talks with management, demanding action against the doctor, who has reportedly fled the scene.
