Relevant education need of the hour: Khanal

Kathmandu, June 11

CPN-UML senior leader and former Prime Minister Jhalnath Khanal has stressed on time-relevant education to fight against poverty, unemployment and illiteracy in the country. Inaugurating the golden jubilee function of Chamunda Higher Secondary School at Jorpati today, Khanal said the nation was in need of a promising and ideal leader, and only time-relevant education could produce such a leader.

He said the recently endorsed education bill was positive but not time-relevant and stressed on employment generating education.

During the programme, Khanal felicitated some well-wishers who had contributed in improving the school’s management.

Similarly, late lawmaker Chakra Bahadur Thakuri and local Maniram Chalise were felicitated posthumous. Lawmakers Rameshwar Phunyal, Sher Bahadur Tamang and Pemba Lama lauded the school’s contribution to the education sector. On the occasion, member of the school management committee Deepak Singh Bhandari handed over Rs 50,000 to the school in memory of his parents.
