Relief support to Lalitpur quake-hit kids

KATHMANDU: The Lalitpur District Child Welfare Board and the Children and Women in Social Service and Human Rights (CWISH) distributed relief support to children affected by the April 25 earthquake in the district.

As many as 474 children were provided with Rs 5,000 support so far, according to CWISH District Coordinator Bidya Sagar Pandey.

The children were prioritised after analysing vulnerabilities facing them after the earthquake on the basis of data collected by the district authorities, according to Pandey.

It has already been four months since the project began and it would continue further, he added.

Lalitpur DCWB's Child Rights Officer Navin Chandra Ghimire said the DCWB is coordinating with various non-government organisations including CWISH to bring relief support to the quake-hit children.

"It is a responsibility of the state to protect children and ensure their rights," he said.
