RJPN obstructs parliament meeting yet again
KATHMANDU: Lawmakers of the Rastriya Janata Party Nepal (RJPN) have yet again obstructed the meeting of the House of Representatives, lower house of the Federal Parliament, today, demanding that the government make public the Lal Commission report.
A probe commission led by former Supreme Court justice Girish Chandra Lal had submitted the report to the government on December 15, 2017. The commission was formed to investigate the cases of human rights violations during Madhesh and Tharuhat movements in 2015 and 2016.
Soon after Speaker Krishna Bahadur Mahara announced the starting of the meeting, RJPN lawmakers stood up from their seats in protest.
Following this, Speaker Mahara allotted time to RJPN lawmaker Ani Kumar Jha to make a statement.
Jha, on the occasion, demanded that Speaker Mahara issue a ruling to the government to make the Lal Commission's report public in the next meeting of the House.
This is the third time the party has obstructed the House for the same reason.
Previously, the party had obstructed HoR proceedings on March 13 and March 17.
