Rs 14 bln estimated for temples reconstruction

KATHMANDU: The reconstruction of the heritages, devastated by the 2015 earthquake, is not gaining momentum in a satisfactory manner.

The centrally-located historical treasures and towers including Kasthamandap, Hanumandhoka area and Dharahara are still in limbo from reconstruction perspective.

According to the data collected by Guthi Sansthan, more than 341 temples and monasteries were completely or partially damaged across the country in the earthquake.

The reconstruction and maintenance of the devastated structures of temples and monasteries requires an estimated budget of Rs 14 billion, said Spokesperson of Guthi Sansthan Saroj Thapaliya.

It was agreed during the discussion with the National Reconstruction Authority (NRA) to take ahead the reconstruction works of the heritages in a phase-wise manner.
