KATHMANDU, JULY 3

The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has called for the formation of a parliamentary probe committee to investigate the alleged tampering of a provision related to the cooling-off period in the Civil Service Bill, which was passed by the House of Representatives last Sunday.

Although the State Affairs and Good Governance Committee had unanimously agreed on a two-year cooling-off period, a last-minute insertion of a proviso effectively nullifying the clause sparked widespread outrage among lawmakers, officials of the Parliamentary Secretariat, and political observers.

In response, a meeting of the RSP party secretariat demanded the establishment of a probe committee to uncover the facts behind what it described as a serious manipulation of the bill. "It is time to restore public trust in Parliament," said RSP Spokesperson Manish Jha.

The secretariat meeting also discussed the selection of a candidate for the upcoming by-election in Rupandehi Constituency No. 3, scheduled for November.

In addition, the party decided to continue its protest in the Federal Parliament regarding the visit visa scam, reiterating its demand for the resignation of Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak.

Spokesperson Jha further stated that the party's central departments would be reactivated and strengthened to enhance organisational efficiency.
