KATHMANDU, DECEMBER 2

Top leaders of five-party alliance have advised Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher JB Rana to stay on leave and assign an acting CJ.

A meeting of the collation partners took place at the Prime Minister's official residence, Baluwatar today proposed CJ Rana to designate his deputy for undertaking the court activities as the court proceedings have remained stalled for long and CJ Rana has been hospitalized for Covid-19 illness.

Talking to media following the meeting, Minister for Communications and Information Technology and Government Spokesperson Gyanendra Bahadur Karki confirmed that the meeting advised CJ Rana to assign the acting CJ immediately and resume the court proceedings. "The Chief Justice has fallen sick and the meeting decided to recommend him to appoint the acting CJ."

The meeting was attended by Prime Minister and Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba, CPN (Maoist Centre)'s Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda', CPN (Unified Socialist) Chair Madhav Kumar Nepal, Janata Samajbadi Party Chair Upendra Yadav and Rastriya Janamorcha Vice Chair Durga Poudel among others.
