Rupandehi man held with 103 gram undeclared gold

KATHMANDU: Police on Saturday arrested a man from Rupandehi district in possession of 103 gram undeclared gold from the Tribhuvan International Airport of Kathmandu.

Bir Bahadur Thapa from Karahiya-2 of the district was trying to smuggle the precious yellow metal from Hong Kong, according to police.

He had landed in Kathmandu from Hong Kong via a Nepal Airlines flight (RA 410) yesterday.

According to police, he was held from the prepaid taxi counter of Nepal's sole international airport.

He had changed the metal into a chain and a ring to evade customs.

Meanwhile, the man and the seized ornaments have been handed over to the TIA Customs Office for further action.
