Russian’s death condoled

Kathmandu, March 10:

The United Nations Mission in Nepal (UNMIN) today expressed sorrow over the death of Evgeny Alexandrov, who committed suicide last evening, a statement said.

Alexandrov, an avionics engineer employed by the company from which the UNMIN contracted helicopter services, was found hanging with a nylon rope in a rented house in Kapan. UNMIN has also expressed its condolences to his family, friends and colleagues.

The UNMIN, meanwhile, is making arrangements for repatriation of the remains of Major Famara Jammeh and Lieutenant Colonel Sondang Irawan and conducted a ceremony in commemoration of Lieutenant Colonel Hyung Jin Park at its Kathmandu headquarters today. Jin Park’s son and brother and the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Nepal and other members of the official Korean delegation attended the ceremony.

Forensic doctors at the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital are working to identify the remains of Major Mats Norhult of Sweden.
