SAARC-level meet begins

Kathmandu, August 1:

A three-day SAARC-level workshop began here today with an objective to discuss follow-up actions on people’s agenda in the region with focus on peace and development. At the workshop organised by SAP Nepal (South Asia Partnership), recommendations are expected to be made after extensive discussion on the agenda proposed by the fifth regional conference

in Bangladesh. The SAP Nepal said suggestions will be collected at different levels regarding future utilisation of natural resources in an integrated manner. The SAP Nepal is expected to organise a civic conference with a view to sorting out possibilities for peace and development and other issues which have been left out by the SAARC summits. Former SAARC Secretary-General, Yadav Kant Silwal, appreciated the idea to mobilise citizens to explore avenues of peace and development in the region.
