Sajha Yatayat begins night bus service in Kathmandu

KATHMANDU:  Sajha Yatayat, with an aim to facilitate night shift workers and passengers, has launched the night bus service within the Kathmandu Valley on Tuesday.

The cooperative has begun operating the transport service along five routes: Lagankhel-Bansbari, New Road-Koteshwor, New Road-Kalimati, New Road-New Bus Park and New Road-Chabahil.

The Lagankhel-Bansbari route is targeted to serve people visiting hospitals as it passes through the Patan Hospital, the Bir Hospital, the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital, the Gangalal National Heart Centre and the Neuro Hospital.

The night bus service starts from 8:30 pm and operates till 11 pm.

The buses are equipped with CCTV cameras and televisions, according to the cooperative.

People are charged Rs 25 for boarding the bus irrespective of where they get on or off, said the company's Chief Executive Officer Mahendra Raj Pandey.
