Sancharika elects new executive
KATHMANDU: The fourth-general assembly of Sancharika Samuha on Thursday formed a new executive committee, with Babita Basnet as the chairperson.
Nirmala Sharma, Nitu Pandit and Nirjala Kakshayapati were elected unopposed as vice president, secretary and treasurer, respectively.
Suchitra Shrestha was elected general secretary while Manisha Ghimire, Bimila Tumkhewa, Kamala Panthi, Pragya Ghimire, Asmita Bhandari and Pawanbarsha Shah were elected members of the Sancharika Samuha.
Sancharika Samuha also celebrated its 13th anniversary in the capital on Thursday.
To mark the occasion, Bibhu Luitel of Birgunj was awarded Uma Singh Samanata award while Samjana Bam, publisher-editor of Purna monthly and Madhav Basnet, reporter of Nepal weekly, were conferred Sancharika Samanata Award.
Goma Ghimire of the Gandaki Radio was given Sancharika Protsahan Award.
Addressing the function, Subas Chandra Nembang, chairperson of the Constituent Assembly, stressed the need for consensus among political parties until the new constitution was drafted.
