Sapkota roots for a republic

Kathmandu: Central committee member of CPN Maoists Agni Sapkota on Monday reiterated that his party would not lay down arms until the seven parties are ready to go for a Loktantrik republic.

Sapkota, who is also the in-charge of the Eastern Special Bureau of the party, claimed that a number of special squads have been formed to “kill the top leadership of his party.”

“The squads formed to kill the top leaders include one from the ranger battalion of the Nepali Army and one from the people who have deserted the Maoists, among others,” he said while addressing the inaugural ceremony of the third national conference of Maoist-affiliated All Nepal Hotel and Restaurant Workers Association (ANHRWA) here on Monday. He, however, said the Maoists have nabbed many of the people involved in such squads. He said the seven parties are “dancing to the tune of imperialists”. He also said the Maoists have proposed a number of alternatives including the idea to lock a certain per cent of arms of both the armies in cantonment.

He also said the Nepali Army is in “cooking something terrible.” He also said Nepal will see a coup if the arms of the PLA are not properly managed.
