SC defers verdict on CA decision
Kathmandu, June 20:
The Supreme Court today postponed for the third time its judgment on whether or not to issue a ‘show cause’ notice on declaration of the country as a federal democratic republic by the first meeting of the Constituent Assembly (CA).
The apex court postponed the judgment, as Justice Damodar Prasad Sharma, who is looking after the case, could not attend the office because of vehicular disturbances in the city.
“He could not attend the office, thus affecting the issuance of the judgment,” assistant spokesperson for the apex court Hemant Rawal said.
Calling the first CA meeting that went ahead without the 26 members nominated by the cabinet unconstitutional, general secretary of Nepali Janta Dal Ram Kumar Ojha had filed the petition in the SC against the CA decision.
