KATHMANDU, JANUARY 31
The Supreme Court has issued an order seeking submission of documents from the High Court Patan related to a marital rape case involving suspended district judge Bhuwan Giri.
A division bench comprising Acting Chief Justice Ishwor Prasad Khatiwada and Justice Sunil Kumar Pokharel issued the order requesting the court documents.
The High Court Patan had previously issued an order stating that it was not necessary to remand the then judge at Rupandehi District Court, Bhuwan Giri.
Similarly, in the same case, the District Court Kathmandu had earlier ordered the release of Giri on bail. In response, Giri's spouse had appealed to the High Court Patan.
Objecting to the decision upheld by the High Court, she even appealed to the Supreme Court.
