KATHMANDU, FEBRUARY 24
CPN (Maoist Centre) chair and former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has stated that his party is not concerned with toppling the government.
Addressing the inaugural ceremony of Maoists with People: Tarai-Madhesh Awakening Campaign, launched by the party in Kachankabal today, he emphasized that the CPN (Maoist Centre) would now focus on engaging directly with the people. "We are committed to moving forward by aligning with the people rather than engaging in political maneuvers to join or overthrow the government," Dahal asserted.
Acknowledging that his party had distanced itself from the grassroots while sharing power with the CPN (UML) and the Nepali Congress in the past, he vowed to rectify those shortcomings through introspection and review.
He highlighted that the awareness campaign aims to strengthen ties with all ethnic and minority communities. Reaffirming his stance, Dahal reiterated that the party would contest the upcoming general election independently, without forming alliances.
According to the party's Jhapa in-charge, Ranjeet Tamang, the campaign, which commenced in Kachankabal, will conclude in Kanchanpur on March 20.
