Kathmandu, April 4:

A public interest litigation (PIL) was filed today at the Supreme Court seeking the court’s order to the Office of the Cabinet Secretariat, Ministry of Information and Communications, Nepal Telecom and the Nepal Electricity Authority to resume mobile phone services immediately.

In the petition filed today, advocate Dinesh Tripathi said the defendants’ decision to

disrupt mobile phone services had “violated his right to continue with his profession and right to life, which are not suspended even during the state of Emergency.” He sought a Supreme Court’s order to the government authorities to resume the services immediately, not to

impose fees on its clients during the period when mobile services were disrupted, and to provide compensation to its customers for the same.
