SC seeks documents from CIAA Commissioner Gurung
KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court on Tuesday demanded documents from Sabitri Thapa Gurung, who is one of the commissioners at the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA).
A division bench of Chief Justice Kalyan Shrestha and Justice Jagdish Sharma Poudel sought the files from Gurung.
The apex court sought her files after she was accused of taking double facilities/incentives from the state coffers. She is an Associate Professor at Tribhuvan University.
Advocate Ramesh Kafle had filed a writ petition at SC, arguing that taking benefits from two government offices by Associate Professor Gurung was against constitution.
Gurung was suspended by CIAA Chief Commissioner Lokman Singh Karki after she was dragged into controversy.
