Kathmandu, February 17:

The Supreme Court today stayed a decision of Minister of Education Renu Kumari Yadav to appoint Kishwori Jha as the director of the Division of Standard Determination at Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT).

A division bench of Justices Kalyan Shrestha and Bharat Raj Upreti issued the order following a hearing on a case filed against her decision. The bench upheld the stay order issued by a single bench of Justice Bala Ram KC on February 11.

Yadav had appointed Jha as the director of the division by replacing Umesh Kumar Mishra. However, Mishra moved the apex court, stating that the Minister had no power to appoint anyone in any division of the CTEVT.
