Scrap picker dies after being poked with iron rod

KATHMANDU: A youth died after an iron rod accidentally got poked into his stomach in Kalanki of Kathmandu on Monday.

Police identified the deceased as Shahi Fulla Miya (24), currently working for the Himal Cement Factory.

He was poked by the rod while he was collecting some scraps at his workplace, police said.

Miya was living at the Kalanki-based Focus Hotel for the last six days.

Police said Miya breathed his last while undergoing treatment at the Balkhu-based Vayoda Hospital.

The investigation into the case is underway, informed police.
