Second edition of Chinese Book Fair 2016 begins

KATHMANDU: The second edition of Chinese Book Fair 2016 with the theme 'Tibet in Development' kicked off at the Malla Hotel in Kathmandu on Saturday.

Varying in topics from culture heritage to stair of civilisation progress of Tibet Autonomous Region, around 750 Chinese books are being displayed including politics, culture, history and philosophy.

The five-day exhibition is being organised in cooperation of China-Nepal publication, displaying books from four publishing houses of Tibet along with audio visual materials displaying ancient and new lives in the Tibetan culture.

Exhibition will be divided into three phases, exhibition of achievements of China-Nepal publication, film and television exhibition of China-Tibet and painting and calligraphy of Beautiful Tibet of China.

The programme was inaugurated by Minister for Education Dhani Ram Paudel.

Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Wu Chuntai was also present in the programme.

Meanwhile, China and Nepal publishing houses signed an agreement during the inaugural event.

The fair is to conclude on September 28.

The first edition of Chinese Book Fair was held in October 2014 in Nepal.
