Chief District Officer of Bhaktapur, Drona Pokharel, who is also the president of District Security Committee said all security arrangements had been completed for the upcoming local level elections in Bhaktapur.

Speaking at an interaction organised by Rafat Sanchar Club today, CDO Pokharel said three-tier security arrangement was made for the elections keeping in view the geographical structure of the district. Nearly 2,000 security personnel have been mobilised in different areas of the district.

He said 1,100 election officers would reach the polling stations today itself. “If any untoward incident takes place, police force would reach the site within five minutes to handle the situation.”

“On May 14, the elections will begin from 7:00am and conclude at 5:00pm. However, the voting time may be added if the flow of voters remain constant. The committee will ensure security not only during the Election Day, but also on the days when the votes will be counted,” said Pokharel.

Similarly, SP Kiran Rana said the police didn’t expect any untoward incident in Bhaktapur on the polling day. “Security has been tightened. However, we also have made arrangements for additional forces,” he said, expressing confidence that polls would take place peacefully.
