Serious students can get US visa easily: Counsellor
Kathmandu, July 29:
Students aspiring to pursue studies in the US will have no problem in getting student visa if they can convince their interviewers that they are going to the US only for educational purpose and that they have sound financial means to support their studies, Robert N Farquhar, the chief of the Consular Section at the US Embassy, said at a Friday Forum held in the Capital today. He said the criteria to get the student visa have not been altered though new regulations have been introduced to make travel to the US safe. In the academic year 2003-04, 4,384 students entered the US under student visa programme, which is among the highest increments, said Farquhar, quoting a statement by James F Moriarty, the US ambassador to Nepal.
