Dahal wins SC Bar Association presidency
Kathmandu, July 9
Democratic Lawyers Association (DLA) candidate for President of the Supreme Court Bar Association Shailendra Kumar Dahal won the election.
Dahal secured 213 votes against his rival Ram Prasad Bhandari of progressive and Professional Lawyers’ Association (PPLA). According to Chief Election Officer Advocate Raju Basnet PPLA candidate for Vice President Narayan Prasad Prasai defeated DLA candidate Dharma Raj Regmi with 31 votes.
Prasai secured 278 votes against Regmi’s 247 votes.
DLA candidate for Secretary Bishnu Luitel secured 283 votes against PPLA candidate Ram Bahadur Thapa’s 244 votes. PPLA candidate for Treasurer Jagat Bahadur Karki won the election with 280 votes.
His rival from Democratic Lawyers Association Dayaram Humagai secured 242 votes. Similarly PPLA candidate for Joint Secretary Anju Upreti Dhakal secured 320 votes against PPLA candidate Amita Dixit Bhandari’s 214 votes.
According to Basnet, Laxmi Pokharel, Mohammed Sheikh Abbas, Ram Raut, Bhirga Raj Pokharel, Drona Dahal, Shruti Kumari Regmi and Shravan Kumar Chaudhari from PPLA elected as member of the Supreme Court Bar Association.
DLA candidates Gita Aryal, Narayan Prasad Bhattarai and Avtar Neupane were elected as members.
