Deuba reiterates One China policy with CPC delegation

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba on Saturday morning said Nepal was committed to the One China policy.

Receiving a delegation from the Communist Party of China delegation led by its International Department Director General, Yuan Zhibing, at his Budhanilakantha-based residence today, Deuba said China needed not worry about Nepal's commitment for the same.

He said the two neighbours shared historic ties for ages and it would grow further in the coming years.

Meanwhile, the CPC delegation also handed over a China visit invitation to the former Prime Minister.

In response, Deuba said he would pay a visit at an appropriate time.

Meanwhile, Deuba appreciated the assistance China had been providing in Nepal's development efforts.

In a different context, he hoped that Madhesi parties would be ready for elections after the proposed Constitution amendment and the local level polls would be held on the scheduled date of May 14.

The meeting had lasted for around 45 minutes, according to the NC Central Party Office.
