Kathmandu, February 8:

The education secretary of Nepal Sherpa Students’ Forum, Namgel Jangbu Sherpa, was injured after some people attacked him as he was leaving the meeting room at its central office in Dillibazar yesterday.

According to Namgel, he was attacked by around 10 people hired by the president of the Forum, Sonam Wanchhen, and its public relations secretary, Ang Pemba Sherpa.

“The other people involved in the attack are Janbu Sherpa, Ang Dawa Sherpa, Ang Gyalgen Sherpa, Sonam Sherpa, among others,” he alleged. Namgel was taken to Teaching Hospital where he received five stitches on his head and has injuries in different parts of his body. Namgel was in the office to talk about the advertisements for the annual issue of Forum titled Sherpa Pratibimba.

“Though today’s meeting was called by general secretary, Kishor Sherpa, to discuss the attack, the president put forth the agenda to oust me,” he said, adding that the majority of executive committee members were against this.

Namgel has filed a complaint at the Kamalpokhari ward police office. The warring parties have been called at the police station on Thursday to settle the dispute.
